Summary of own artistic research

As director, creator, choreographer, and performer for 25 years, my work is anchored in an evolving artistic inquiry into multisensory relations of ecological attention through movement, manifested as performance, participatory performative scores, live art installations, workshops, and writing.

In Helsing Øre+Øjne (2009), Battle of Copenhagen (2013), and Sufi Science (2014-2015), we investigated the interactive relation between the site-specific installations, spectators and performers.

I directed the 2016 performance installation “You Come And We Will Show You What We Do” as a mixed-media, lab-based inquiry into audience participation in contact improvisation and performance research.

Directing the interactive performance “Living Purple” at Arken Museum for Moderne Art (2017), I explored the tacit and relational space as a constant transformative inquiry. An exploration in how we can experience art differently through the observation of moving bodies and our own sensing moving bodies in physical relation to others.

For the 2018 performance and research-creation “Touch, I remember Touch,” I depicted divergent relational fields with an experimental setup, capturing thought-in-the-making as living video transmission.

In 2019, I joined the research project Experimenting, Experiencing, Reflecting (EER): between Studio Olafur Eliasson and the Interacting Minds Centre (IMC), Århus university. As part of EER, I performed my piece Sharing Perspectives (SP) at Tate Modern London. SP gave a rare insight into the world of the other by embodying another person’s perspective. As ways to navigate the pandemic, I developed the performative scores, Greeting Cards (2020), that questioned and redefined the choreographed gesture greeting; and INviteME Online (2021), that invited participants to reconnect to their private spaces, plants, and each other. I publish on these collaborations in both artistic and scientific books and journals.
